Working to empower through adaptive fitness

Green Bay, WI. October 16, 2023

The Green Bay Packers football outreach program partnered with Grit920, a local non-profit, to give area special needs students a day of fun and friendship.

Tevyn Montgomery, at left, and Zac Litkey work through an obstacle course together. When asked what motivates him to volunteer with special needs students, Montgomery says “it's awesome to see how much they improve everyday”.

Football players from Bay Port and Pulaski High Schools came out to support the Grit920/Packers Outreach Camp event. Bay Port football coach Gary Westerman, not shown, says his players get just as much out these events as their special buddies do.

Sammy Lee, center, is cheered on by Andi Bartlein, at left. Bartlein, a Bay Port Senior, says a career in special education and physical therapy is in her future. She says her experiences with Grit920 played a big part in that decision.

Participants and volunteers kick off the joint Grit920 – Packer’s Outreach Camp. Begun in 2016, Grit920 hopes to have a dedicated facility on the Bode Central grounds in the near future.
