Who is Shane Fitzsimmons?

I have always had an equal interest in history and current events. I consider the attempt to better understand the human condition a worthy ambition. For a time, I even contemplated a career as a historian.
2020 showed me more than ever that history is taking place all around us. I decided it was time to get serious about documenting the world as I see it. As fate would have it, I found my photography to be an effective compliment to my writing. Through that process I discovered my passion for Photojournalism, Documentary and Street Photography.
In a world overwhelmed with hype and sensationalism, we are bombarded with media. Much of it click bait and mind-numbing trends. As a Freelance Photographer I endeavor to make images that are authentic. I capture moments that the average person would appreciate, if they slowed down enough to notice them. Ultimately, my goal is to tell stories that matter.
My formal education includes degrees from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where I studied photography, videography, drone technology and social media design.
I reside In Appleton WI, along with my wife and 3 children. Most of my work centers in the Fox River Valley, although I travel when and wherever I can. Whether you are nearby or far away, I would love to hear from you!
